Here we are again – the prodigal blogger returns to the blogosphere. 

Without counting my long forgotten online writing sagas from AsianAvenue to Xanga and LiveJournal, I started my first official blog in 2012 on Blogger. It was called The Little Dandy (and is still up on www.thelittledandy.com because I can’t seem to let go of the domain name so I continue to pay for the annual renewal…smh, I know).

I stopped blogging as The Little Dandy in 2015. At the time, I had plans to start a new blog – one that was more mature; a blog that that was more aligned with my current taste, style, and views on fashion at the time. However, in 2015 I also started a new (demanding) corporate job and the new blog thing just never panned out. The last 6 years have kind of flown by, and not a single day has passed without the “need to blog” jabbing me in the back of my brain. Caveat: I am a Leo. Procrastinating is one of my strengths.

Let me get real with you. A 9-5 job you are not passionate about sucks the life straight out of you – aggressively and clean from the deepest corners of your soul. Literally. It. Is. Soul. Crushing.

It’s not that I hate my job or career (I love my career!), but my 9-5 is not my dream. At the beginning, I ignored this. I was fine. Bills gotta get paid. Amirite? I always thought that I’d be able to juggle my 9-5 and then work on something I’m passionate about on the side. Unfortunately, sometimes (read: a-lot-of-the-time) a 9-5 workday does not end at 5. It just doesn’t end. And by the time it does, you’re way too mentally exhausted to put any energy into something else. It took the pandemic and working-from-home to realize that enough-is-enough. Work-life balance is crucial, and doing something everyday that brings you true joy is absolutely necessary.

My dream is not to sit at a desk and work on growing someone else’s dream. My dream is to work on my dream, and manifest the life I want to live. So, there-in lies the reason why I’ve started jokimjorgensen; to put my spare time and energy into something that is mine and that brings me joy.

My content will focus on building a capsule wardrobe, investing in quality pieces, and making your home beautiful.
